‘You’ve got to clap’ – Doherty has hailed Chelsea player that Spurs now reportedly want to sign

Tottenham Hotspur could look to bring their summer transfer business to a close with a new playmaker, writes the TBR.

Nicolo Zaniolo is reportedly still on the Spurs radar, even though he suffered a dislocated shoulder at the weekend.

And this week, reports have emerged liking Tottenham with Chelsea midfielder Hakim Ziyech.

Dutch outlet AD claims Antonio Conte has set his sights on the Morocco international.

The Blues are reportedly looking to move the £36million man on, and the player himself is eager to move.

In addition, the Dutch outlet claims Zaniolo has been convinced by Jose Mourinho to stay at Roma.

In January last year, Ziyech delivered a masterclass for Chelsea in a 2-0 Premier League win over Tottenham.

“That was brilliant, really,” Pat Nevin told Chelsea’s post-match Matchday Live programme.

“That’s his best game for us without a shadow of a doubt.

“He just looked like a different person out there. The confidence – that was a 17-yard ball…

“Honestly, he was a joy to watch.”

Even Matt Doherty couldn’t help but praise Ziyech for his superb goal.

“In the first half, we limited them to some set piece headers that were comfortably over the bar and [did not let them] cut us open too much,” the Tottenham defender told Spurs TV after the game.

“And then they managed to stick one in the top corner, which is fair enough. I guess when somebody does that, you’ve got to clap your hands to it.”

If all goes well, Tottenham could make the £36million man theirs in the next week.
