‘You sir have a huge career’ – Graham Roberts blown away by Spurs pair who were ‘different class’

Graham Roberts took to Twitter following Tottenham Hotspur’s stunning win over Manchester City on Saturday to laud both Cristian Romero and Eric Dier after their colossal performances, writes the TBR.

Spurs put an end to their losing run in some style at the Etihad Stadium. They were superb throughout and led 2-1 heading into stoppage-time at the end of the second-half.

However, Riyad Mahrez equalised with a brilliant penalty to seemingly ensure that the points would be shared. But there was then one final twist in the tale.

Harry Kane headed home his second of the game to send the away end, and dug-out, into a frenzy. Tottenham had breathed life into the title race – but they also got their own push for a top four spot back on track.

In truth, Kane was the only choice for the man of the match. He was outrageously good. However, a number of other players were simply outstanding.

And two of the standouts were Romero and Dier.

Romero has been every bit as good as Tottenham fans would have hoped he would be. Meanwhile, Tottenham’s improvement at the back hardly seemed a coincidence with Dier back in the side.

And Roberts were keen to laud both on social media following the game…

There had been plenty of talk ahead of the game regarding what the future may hold for Conte. Certainly, it had appeared that the honeymoon period was over.

There is still plenty of work to do. The victory on Saturday will ultimately mean little if they end qualifying for the Europa Conference League.

But the win did show just how much potential Tottenham could have while the Italian is at the helm, particularly with a defence that includes both Romero and Dier.
