‘Yelled in frustration’ – Conte was reportedly furious with one Mourinho signing during Spurs win

Antonio Conte has picked up his first victory as Tottenham Hotspur boss.

Spurs edged out Leeds United 2-1 in North London on Sunday evening, coming from behind to do so.

Sergio Reguilon wound up being the hero for Tottenham after netting a 69th-minute winner.

But Conte was reportedly furious with the Spain international earlier in the game.

Just before the break, a promising Lilywhites attack broke down when Reguilon – signed by Jose Mourinho in 2020 – played the wrong pass by ignoring the unmarked Emerson Royal out wide.

And Football London has reported that an angry Conte turned to the bench and ‘yelled in frustration’ over the former Real Madrid man’s decision making.

You could argue that Reguilon is a touch lucky that he wound up being the hero for Conte’s side.

Because if Tottenham had dropped points, and the left-back – who plays a more attacking role under the Italian – had contributed to that with poor final product, Conte wouldn’t have forgotten it.

Okay so he hardly would’ve transfer listed Reguilon.

But it is widely known that Conte sets very high standards for his players.

And with Ryan Sessegnon fit again – and arguably a more attacking player – the former Chelsea boss would’ve had no qualms about dropping Reguilon for the next game.
