“Working to find a solution”: Spurs actively working on another transfer deal, says Fabrizio Romano

Spurs completed the signing of Cristian Romero yesterday but will now turn their attentions to outgoings, with Moussa Sissoko the first order of the day.

Sissoko has been tipped to depart the club all summer as part of Fabio Paratici and Nuno Santo’s overhaul of the squad. The French midfielder has been a willing and hard-working player for Tottenham, but has, at times, lacked quality.

But the 31-year-old could now be on his way to pastures now, with Fabrizio Romano confirming Spurs are now working to a solution for Sissoko.

Sissoko is one of a number of players who could yet depart the club in the coming weeks. Joe Hart has already joined Celtic, while Erik Lamela went the other way in the deal to bring Bryan Gil in.

The powerful midfielder has made over 250 appearances in the Premier League across spells with Newcastle and Spurs. There is said to be plenty of interest in the Frenchman, who has 71 caps for his country.

Sissoko will leave with the best wishes of those at Spurs you feel. There won’t be any kicking up a fuss, just an acceptance that the time has come to move on.

There’ll be Premier League teams out there who’d like Sissoko. Newcastle, for one, would probably love him back. But a move back home could also be on the cards. His next contract will probably be his last big one.

Spurs fans, then, should wish Sissoko well on his way. Yes, he’s not always been brilliant. But he is a worker, and that’s all you can ask for sometimes.
