Wilshere names the one ex-Tottenham man he absolutely adored

Jack Wilshere has admitted on TalkSport that he absolutely loved Mauricio Pochettino while he was at the helm at Tottenham Hotspur.

The Argentine spent over five years in North London and he changed Spurs’ fortunes. Tottenham became a real force under Pochettino, but since Daniel Levy sacked him, they’ve struggled more often than not.

Wilshere, who is Arsenal through and through, has no love for Tottenham whatsoever. However, the Englishman revealed yesterday that he absolutely adored Pochettino – even though he was the manager of the enemy.

“Even though he was the manager of Tottenham, I still loved him. I think that he had done a great job.”

Wilshere’s right, Pochettino did a great job at Tottenham. He completely changed the club’s fortunes and he is one of the biggest reasons why they still have such a good team.

It won’t be wrong to call Pochettino one of Tottenham’s best ever managers, especially in the Premier League era. Yes, he didn’t win a trophy, but he made them title contenders and took them close to domestic and European crown.

Tottenham got off to a terrible start in Pochettino’s final season at the club. They were in a really bad place and Daniel Levy decided that the best thing was to get rid of him.

Almost two years since his sacking, we think it’s safe to say that Spurs made a mistake. Jose Mourinho was far from a success at Tottenham, while Nuno Espirito Santo, although he has only been at the club for a few months, hasn’t done anything to convince us that he’s better than Pochettino.

Most Spurs fans would take Pochettino back in a heartbeat if that opportunity came up. However, the only way that will ever happen is if Paris Saint-Germain get rid of him.
