Lyon have turned down a €50m offer from West Ham, including bonuses, for midfielder Lucas Paqueta, according to L’Equipe. The French club is ready to sell the Brazilian, but only for record money for the club.
Lyon’s biggest transfer to date has been the 2019 sale of Tanguy Ndombele to Tottenham Hotspur for €60m.
Paqueta is not against a move to West Ham, but he won’t force a move either. The main goal for the Brazilian midfielder is a place in the squad for the 2022 World Cup.
West Ham do not want to significantly improve the offer. However, the player’s agents are in London in case Lyon change their mind.
Lucas has already made two appearances for Lyon this season. Portal Transfermarkt estimates the 24-year-old midfielder at 35 million euros.
As a reminder, Paqueta has been playing for Lyon since 2020. Previously, the footballer defended the colors of Flamengo and Milan. This season, Paqueta took part in two matches of the French Ligue 1 and did not score. Since 2018, Paqueta has been called up to the Brazilian national team.
West Ham have got no points in three matches and are at 20th place in the table.
