‘Weeks…’ – Fabrizio Romano says Tottenham target will hold contract talks soon

Tottenham Hotspur may soon have a better idea of whether a deal for Ivan Perisic is possible this summer, with Fabrizio Romano suggesting on Twitter that Inter Milan are set for a fresh talks over a new contract in the coming weeks, writes the TBR.

Perisic has been in brilliant form for Inter this season. He has scored five goals and contributed six assists for the Nerazzurri in all competitions.

His future at San Siro is uncertain. His contract with Inter expires at the end of the campaign. And a host of sides are monitoring his situation.

One of those in the running is Tottenham. Antonio Conte worked with the Croatian while in charge of Inter. And reports have claimed that Spurs are now eyeing a potential fresh transfer for the 33-year-old.

Of course, a pre-contract deal is possible right now. But it would appear that Spurs may have to bide their time if they hope to bring Perisic to the Premier League.

Romano has now suggested on Twitter that the clubs who wanted him in January remain in the running. However, Inter have now scheduled fresh talks about a new contract for the coming weeks.

Perisic could be a really shrewd signing for Tottenham this summer. He is playing extremely well again this season. He has been ‘exceptional‘ at times. And obviously, he would arrive on a free transfer.

But they must know that disappointment is likely. Perisic is approaching 250 appearances for Inter in all competitions. So you would imagine that he would be happy to stay if the chance presented itself.

Having said that, perhaps the chance to reunite with Conte gives Tottenham an outside chance of luring him away.
