Tottenham Hotspur is two matchdays into the Premier League season, and they’ve come away with two victories and six points as the Nuno Espírito Santo era is off on the right foot.
The Harry Kane transfer saga hangs over the club despite the solid start as the transfer deadline nears. The 28-year-old appeared for a few minutes as a substitute in the fixture against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
During his press conference, where The Daily Mail relayed the comments, Santo touched on the Kane saga, but from the perspective that he wants Tottenham supporters to get behind their striker. Supporters have begun to turn on Kane, but it seems that the London-based boss wants fans to stick by him.
“Of course, we have to be together,” Nuno said. “We are Tottenham Hotspur. Everybody wants to be good; I was pleased with the attitude of our fans, we have amazing fans, and we have to be very thankful for that.”
“We need everybody; we need everybody… he played. He took his process. He is getting back to his fitness. He still has to improve, and he helped the team today. He is one of the best players in the world. We are very lucky to have him.”
Whether this is an indication that he’ll be staying remains to be seen but should Kane remain, Santo wants reconciliation between the supporters and Kane. The saga has gone on the entire summer, and in the next few days, it will determine whether he stays or departs.
