‘Wasted £20 million’ – Tony Cascarino slams Tottenham Hotspur deal suggesting that they ‘overpaid’

TalkSPORT pundit once again criticized Tottenham Hotspur business involving Richarlison’s move from Everton.

Speaking on recent talkSPORT podcast, Tony Cascarino said that the reasonable fee for Brazilian striker should have been limited by maximum £30-40 million.

Most reports coming from Britain during the late stages of negotiations confirmed that Richarlison cost nearly 50 million, with possible fee rising to 60 million if certain bonus requirements are met.

The pundit said:

“I don’t envisage him in the starting Xi. So that’s a problem in itself.”

“If you had said to me what you would price him at, I would have said between max £40 million and closer to £30 million.”

He also added:

“I just see a player that goes down too easily, he would upset a lot of Everton fans because he does go to ground and he does it very regularly in the game. I don’t know if he’s a good fit for Spurs. I might be wrong, I might be sitting at the end of the season eating humble pie saying that I got it totally wrong. But I don’t see it with Richarlison, and I think that’s a huge fee.”

We may agree on that the current market value of Richarlison may not meet his previous season’s performance level. However, this is what you have to pay for a 25-year-old striker with complete five seasons in Premier League. During his spell at Everton, he reached double digits each season as well as providing a bunch of assists.
