Harry Winks wants conversation with Nuno Espirito Santo over playing time at Tottenham Hotspur.

Speaking in an interview as quoted by Evening Standard, Harry Winks has spoken about his form and the need to have a conversation with Tottenham Hotspur manager Nuno Espirito Santo

The 25-year-old has struggled to make much of an impact ever since bursting out on the scene under former manager Mauricio Pochettino. The English midfielder was lined up for great things but it seems as though the trajectory of his career has stalled in recent times.

The English midfielder has only managed 15 appearances in the Premier League last season. His lack of game time seems to have continued in this campaign as Winks has been used more often in the UEFA Europa Conference League. The game against SBV Vitesse would have been a great opportunity to make a mark, but the 25-year-old midfielder failed to capitalize.

Winks has stated his desire to work hard and fight for his spot on the team. He also highlighted the need to have an honest talk with Nuno Espirito Santo over his playing time at Tottenham Hotspur as he addresses talks of a potential move away from Spurs in January:

“I’m not thinking that far ahead [to January]. I’ve got a lot of games to try and fight for the club. There’s still two months to go and it’s about knuckling down, working as hard as I can, and having no regrets. When the time is right I’ll have a conversation [with the manager] but right now it’s important that the team and manager are focussed on the next game and don’t get any distractions from me.”

Nuno chose to field out a second-string squad during midweek against the Dutch club. This was a great chance for many of the fringe players to prove themselves but a disappointing performance highlighted the need for more depth in the North London club. Winks has highlighted his love for Tottenham but has also hinted that he would prefer more game time to build up his confidence.

Tottenham are currently third in their Conference League group which puts them in a difficult position to qualify for the knockout stages. Nuno will be hoping that his teams can put on a better display in the matches to come as the European tournament may be their best bet to win a trophy this season, with Winks potentially eyeing to impress in cup competitions as he has been ousted from their strongest starting XI right now.
