According to transfer news from L’Equipe (h/t Sport Witness), Tottenham Hotspur could look to bring in PSG striker Mauro Icardi if star forward Harry Kane leaves the club this summer, informs TTAB.
Heading into the summer, there is a lot of uncertainty surrounding the future of Harry Kane at Tottenham. The 27-year-old England captain has enjoyed another phenomenal campaign on a personal level but there has been no success on the team front. With the striker in his peak years and yet to win a trophy in his career, it might be time that he looks to move on.
There is no shortage of suitors for the Tottenham academy graduate either, with both Manchester United and Manchester City keen on Kane, among other clubs.
Now, it is being claimed that Spurs could look at PSG’s Icardi should the England captain end up sealing a move away from the club come the end of the season. (h/t Sport Witness)
Icardi joined PSG on loan in the summer of 2019 and enjoyed a fruitful campaign, prompting the French champions to sign him on a permanent transfer last summer. However, he has been in and out of the starting XI this season and has made it clear to the club that he wants to leave at the end of the season. (h/t Sport Witness)
PSG, as per the report, would not stand in the Argentine’s way if he does push for an exit. The striker is valued at €35-40m and is now being tipped as on option for Tottenham ahead of the summer window.
Tottenham fans would obviously prefer that Kane does not leave the club come the end of the season. But having given his best for the club for years now, one cannot hold it against him if he desired to leave in search of trophies. In that case, there will be a massive void left in attack. And, Icardi, despite the controversies that he tends to attract, is someone that can deliver the goods in front of goal.
