Speaking to Spurs TV vis Metro (h/t Football.london), Tottenham manager Nuno Espirito Santo was visibly worried about facing Chelsea. He spoke about all the problems Spurs are having to endure and added how Chelsea will be a tough game on the weekend.
Spurs endured a frustrating night at Rennes as they struggled to get all three points and at times looking like they would come out of the game without a point. Rennes made a comeback while Spurs managed to save the game later on. However, there are bigger things to look forward to for Spurs now.
It is a blockbuster clash on Sunday as Spurs take on Chelsea in a London Derby. Both sides are coming into the game in contrasting form with Chelsea flying high after two wins in the last two. Spurs, on the other hand, are struggling a bit with a loss and a draw. All signs point to Chelsea being favourites at this point.
Nuno Espirito Santo was probably not in the best of spirits after the draw. He then spoke about how tough the Chelsea game can be.
“Many obstacles,” he said. “It’s not good, it’s not good. I’m worried, naturally [when speaking about injury issues at the club].”
“It’s at home and we’re going to have our fans behind us. We will compete. It’s going to be a tough match, but we’re going to be ready for it. They’re a very good team, a very good team. All the teams in the Premier League are very tough.”
Granted Spurs are not in the best of touches but one must remember that Nuno’s side did win against Manchester City in the opening game of the season despite Harry Kane’s absence. Odds are against us but that might just be where Spurs can surprise. It looks like an interesting fixture on paper and it could well turn out to be one on Sunday.
