Tottenham now want £30m-rated playmaker Van der Vaart has backed to make ‘big impact’

Tottenham Hotspur have set their sights on Chelsea’s Hakim Ziyech, according to Dutch outlet AD, informs the TBR.

Spurs have enjoyed a fruitful transfer window, bringing in seven new players.

Tottenham have also moved a number of players on, including Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso.

Now, with just over a week left of the summer transfer window, Spurs seem to be eyeing some more new recruits.

Tottenham have been linked with a new playmaker in recent weeks.

Nicolo Zaniolo is reportedly still on their radar, even though he suffered a dislocated shoulder at the weekend.

But now, it looks as though Spurs are also eyeing Ziyech, who’s currently out of favour at Chelsea.

AD claims the Blues are looking to move the £36million man on, and the player himself is eager to move.

In addition, the Dutch outlet claims Zaniolo has been convinced by Jose Mourinho to stay at Roma.

This means Tottenham would have to look for alternatives.

However, Spurs aren’t alone in pursuing Ziyech.

The 29-year-old has apparently been talking to Ajax, who are bracing themselves for Antony’s potential departure.

Ajax would need to move Antony on before they look to proceed with a move for Ziyech.

Earlier this year, Tottenham cult hero Rafael van der Vaart said Ziyech would be ideal for Spurs.

He told The Times: “I’ve been saying that for some time now.

“But I believe Ziyech is the type of player who could make a big impact in the current Spurs team.

“With a playmaker like him, chances are things will start to go much better.

“Then Son doesn’t have to go deep to collect the ball and Kane can just remain up front as a striker as well.

“Because they miss someone who can feed them those balls. Now they have to work too hard.”
