Alasdair Gold has said that insiders at Tottenham Hotspur have talked up Oliver Skipp’s improvements on his Youtube channel.
Skipp was loaned out by Tottenham to Norwich City last term, and he thoroughly impressed in the Championship.
The teenager was a mainstay at Norwich as they won the league, with his form suggesting that he very much has a first team future at Spurs.
The 20-year-old has now been used frequently over pre-season.
And Gold said: “Oliver Skipp, he was superb. Speaking to people about him, and they feel there is a real difference in him.
“He’s come back from Norwich where he was a key part of their Championship winning team and he’s come back a much more confident guy.
“He is sure of his status and value in the team and on the pitch and off the field [he’s improved].”
Skipp’s emergence as a real candidate to take a first-team place is a huge boost for Tottenham.
Not only does it potentially save them money in the transfer market, but it could also enhance the quality of their starting line-up.
Harry Winks hasn’t convinced of late, while Moussa Sissoko could also depart.
If Skipp does manage to break into Nuno’s starting line-up it seems most likely that he would feature alongside Pierre Emile Hojbjerg in midfield.
Hojbjerg played in every Premier League game for Tottenham last term, and with his aggression and defensive skill, he could be the ideal partner for a technically gifted operator like Skipp.
