‘There is talk’ – Reporter claims Tottenham are considering move for ‘magic’ PL star

Tottenham Hotspur want Allan Saint-Maximin and Fabio Paratici is understood to be leading the interest in the Newcastle United winger, writes the HITC.

Tottenham have already secured one signing this summer by landing Ivan Perisic on a free transfer from Inter Milan.

Whilst Perisic has attracted huge praise over the years for his displays as a winger, he will likely play as a wing back under Antonio Conte.

That may mean that Tottenham still target another winger this summer, especially if Steven Bergwijn moves on.

A few names have been suggested already and one of them is Newcastle ace Saint-Maximin.

The Daily Mail reported in May that Tottenham were showing an interest in signing Saint-Maximin.

Football London’s Alasdair Gold now offers more information on Tottenham’s pursuit of the French winger.

Gold claims on YouTube that Tottenham are keen on signing Saint-Maximin because Fabio Paratici absolutely loves him.

It’s suggested that Tottenham’s director of football really likes Saint-Maximin and wants to bring him to North London.

Gold even notes that there have been murmurings of a release clause in Saint-Maximin’s deal but that has now been confirmed.

“The other one I know Paratici really likes is Allan Saint-Maximin from Newcastle,” said Gold. “There is talk that there is a release clause there, no-one seems to have been able to confirm that but there is talk that there is one and I’ve been told that Paratici is a big fan of his.”

“A little bit similar to Traore in terms of end product maybe not quite being there. I think the best way to describe both of them is really lots of talent and potential but maybe what they produce and their end product doesn’t quite match that. They’ve both got this ability to do the unpredictable and beat a man with ease, but at the end of the move they just don’t have that consistency.”

“Maybe one to keep an eye on, Saint-Maximin, especially if there is a release clause and they feel they can get him for a cheap price,” he added.

Saint-Maximin, 25, joined Newcastle from Nice in 2019 and has become a fan favourite ever since.

The wide man can dribble past players for fun and combining that with blistering speed has made him exciting to watch.

Yet it’s fair to ask questions about Saint-Maximin’s end product having only managed five goals and five assists in 35 Premier League games this past season.

We all know that Saint-Maximin’s talent should take him beyond those numbers but he hasn’t quite made it click yet.

Saint-Maximin would likely be sat behind Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski in Tottenham’s wide pecking order but having been branded ‘magic’ by Kieran Trippier, Tottenham may think that he can provide a spark off the bench.
