Calciomercato revealed earlier this week that Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are battling to sign Leandro Paredes from Mauricio Pochettino’s Paris Saint-Germain this summer, writes the TBR.
The Argentine is closing in on three full years at PSG. He has done fairly well when he has been given the opportunity, but the 27-year-old hasn’t quite played as much as he would’ve liked this season.
Paredes has played 840 minutes of football in Ligue 1 since the start of the campaign. That’s not enough at all for a player of his quality, and a move away this summer seems very likely.
Tottenham could well be the ones who could sign him and here’s an interesting story about him that might make you chuckle.
Back in February this year, Pochettino’s PSG faced Real Madrid in the Champions League. In the first-leg in Paris, Kylian Mbappe’s superb stoppage-time winner gave the hosts a win, and wild celebrations saw the ex-Tottenham boss almost break his nose.
Speaking about the incident, Pochettino said, as per Goal: “I felt two things. The first was joy, then Paredes ran towards me and hit my nose with his chest.
“And I thought I had broken it, I called our doctor and told him: ‘I think I have broken my nose’.
“I was wearing this mask and thought I had broken my nose. So I had these two feelings, the joy followed by the pain in my nose.”
