The Athletic share if Duncan Ferguson will join Frank Lampard staff as major Everton news breaks

Frank Lampard’s expected backroom staff at Everton has been shared, and there is uncertainty over the future of Duncan Ferguson, according to The Athletic.

The former Chelsea man has been offered the job as manager at Goodison Park and is expected to be officially announced on Saturday [Jan 29th].

The news is likely to see Ferguson leave the club and seek a fresh start elsewhere after being potentially overlooked for the role, which means there is no place for him in Lampard’s backroom staff.

Lampard is expected to bring Chelsea coach Anthony Barry with him to Goodison Park, although there is no agreement yet between the two teams.

The Daily Mail also report that Lampard will bring Joe Edwards with him from Stamford Bridge as part of his staff, while Steve Holland has also been mentioned too.

Losing Big Dunc is always going to be a sad day for Everton fans, but at this point it’s a decision that makes sense.

Lampard isn’t someone who needs to learn about the club or how the fans will react or expect things, having spent the vast majority of his playing career in the Premier League.

Ferguson has been keen on the role for a while, but with a lack of experience it’s been hard for the club to take the plunge.

Now that has become clear, the Scot is likely to go elsewhere and find experience at another club before eventually returning one day to take over as boss.

For now though, the fans will back Lampard and hope he can keep them in the Premier League before regrouping next season and pushing on.
