Team News: Tottenham could be without seven players for Crystal Palace clash

According to team news from Express, Tottenham could potentially be without seven first-team stars against Crystal Palace. Four players could be out with injuries while three are pretty much ruled out due to quarantine rules. That could hamper a good start to the season.

This international break cannot seem to end soon enough for Tottenham. After all the optimism of a perfect start to the season, things have been brought back to reality at least a little bit. There’s a solid chance that Spurs visit Selhurst Park on Saturday with a patched-up side after all that has happened in the last 10 days or so.

Firstly, it was the quarantine issue. That forced Spurs to reconsider allowing the trio of Davinson Sanchez, Cristian Romero and Giovani Lo Celso to travel to South America. The Argentine duo had to be ‘detained’ on the pitch after breaching quarantine rules. Despite the trio returning early, they will now head to Croatia for a 10-day quarantine, effectively ruling them out for the weekend clash.

Now comes the injury barrage. Two England youth stars are now on the injury list with Oliver Skipp coming off against Kosovo with a groin injury and Ryan Sessegnon getting a ‘knock’ in training ahead of the game. The biggest of the lot could be Son Heung-Min who had to miss South Korea’s game against Lebanon with a calf strain. Lastly, there is Steven Bergwijn who was seen with a heavily wrapped up foot with the Netherlands. (h/t Express)

The South American trio are ruled out for sure. However, it is still unclear as to how serious each of the other four injuries are. While Sessegnon and Bergwijn are still peripheral players, any long-term absence for Son and Skipp could seriously be detrimental for the club going ahead.
