Spurs have reportedly expressed an interest in signing James Ward-Prowse.
According to The Telegraph, Tottenham are preparing a move for the Southampton captain.
However, Spurs will be up against Aston Villa in pursuit of the England international, added the report.
If the report is true, Tottenham fans should be thrilled, as Ward-Prowse is a top player.
Ward-Prowse has come through the ranks at Southampton, making his first-team debut in 2011.
Since then, he has clocked up 322 competitive appearances for Saints, registering 33 goals and 40 assists.
Ward-Prowse has become Southampton’s captain and has also broken into the England squad.
Indeed, Gareth Southgate’s decision not to include him in the Euro 2020 squad proved controversial.
To date, Ward-Prowse has won eight caps for the Three Lions.
His Southampton contract is reportedly worth £75,000-a-week and runs until 2025.
The Coaches Voice has written: “Ward-Prowse is a technically gifted player with a vast passing range, vision, and the ability to play high-quality final balls to attackers.
“In the earlier stages of his career that meant he was a useful midfielder when his team were in possession, but he also needed support behind him.
“He was often shunted to the right side of midfield as managers tried to make best use of his exceptional crossing.
