Marcel Lavinier and Yago Santiago Alonso have been given the chance to impress Antonio Conte after taking part in Tottenham first-team training.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
According to Wenham, Marcel Lavinier, 20, and Yago Santiago Alonso, 18, have been training with the first team during the last two weeks.
Santiago has been a regular in the Under-23s this season, making 13 appearances.
Lavinier has made 10 appearances for the Under-23s but has found starts hard to come by.
Wenham was delighted to see the duo training with Tottenham’s senior stars and is excited about the players’ future under Conte.
“Marcel Lavinier is a right-back who joined us on a free transfer at the start of last season,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“He actually made his first-team debut under Jose Mourinho last year.
“He has fallen away a little bit and is getting picked for the Under 23s as regularly.
“So it’s great to see him training with Conte. There is one other player I’m excited about.
“We have a Spanish centre attacking midfielder called Yago Santiago Alonso.
“He was picked up three seasons ago from Celta Vigo and he’s cooked up some nice numbers in the Under 18s and 23s.
“He is a very consistent starter and I hope he is given the opportunity to show what he’s got.
“They are brilliant young players and I’m delighted for them.”
Tottenham’s Under 23s are fifth in the Premier League 2 Division 1.
Dilan Markanday has starred, scoring 10 goals in 10 games.
