Spurs eye the statement signing of 26-year-old playmaker with superior versatility

Calls are growing for Tottenham Hotspur to make a statement signing this summer, with RB Leipzig’s Dani Olmo emerging as a top target.

John Wenham, owner of the popular Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose, has urged the club to secure the Spanish international.

“Olmo is a very good player,” Wenham told Tottenham News. “He is highly regarded and someone who would considerably improve our squad.”

Olmo’s consistency and attacking prowess have attracted widespread interest from top European clubs. Wenham believes signing him would not only strengthen Tottenham’s attack but also signal their ambition.

“I would love to see Spurs go out and sign him because I know that every big club wants him,” he said. “It is a positive thing for Tottenham to be linked with exciting players such as Olmo.”

Following a decent first season under manager Ange Postecoglou, Tottenham are looking to bolster their squad for the upcoming campaign. Reinforcing the attack is a priority, and Olmo, with his eight goals and five assists this season, fits the bill.

Adding to his appeal is a £55.8 million release clause in his contract with RB Leipzig, despite it running until 2027.

Wenham highlights Olmo’s versatility as another advantage. “His versatility could give Postecoglou multiple options to work with,” he said.

With competition for Olmo’s signature expected to be fierce, Tottenham will need to act decisively if they are to secure the player Wenham believes can be a “statement signing” for the club.
