Six key passes, 100% dribble success – Tottenham ace was the star of the show on weekend

Tottenham’s Lo Celso ran the show in Argentina display.

Whilst the international break drags on, Tottenham fans can take some inspiration from the performance of Giovani Lo Celso.

The 25-year-old was sublime as Argentina beat Uruguay 3-0.

He registered two assists from an advanced position on the left of the 3 in a 4-2-3-1.

For Tottenham, Lo Celso has found goals and assists hard to come by and there’s been a lot of chopping and changing.

His position has never been a settled thing at club level.

In eight games for Spurs this season he’s featured in five different roles (Transfermarkt).

However, for Argentina he’s showing just what he can do.

In the win over Uruguay he made a ridiculous six key passes and completed all of his three attempted dribbles.

On top of that he won four out of his six duels and made six recoveries in a dominant display (FotMob).

The Lilywhites will be desperate to see this sort of form at club level.

Lo Celso is one who clearly has bags of talent, but unlocking it has proven difficult in North London.

Mauricio Pochettino, Jose Mourinho, Ryan Mason and now Nuno Espirito Santo have had a go at getting the best from him.

However, he’s just not found the same level for club as he achieves for his country.

Maybe it’s time for Nuno to replicate his role that he plays internationally, wide on the left of an attacking midfield trio.

Lo Celso is able to tuck into the midfield, drop deep to get the ball and drive forward with purpose.

This almost ‘free role’ could work at Tottenham, especially if he can provide for Heung-Min Son and Harry Kane.

It’s at least worth a chance in North London.

For now, though, fans can be excited to see their man producing for his country.
