Tottenham Hotspur’s interim manager Ryan Mason has provided a team news update to the media ahead of their upcoming Premier League match against Liverpool on Sunday. The press conference, which was held at Hotspur Way, included information on the availability of the Spurs squad for the crucial match against the Merseyside team.
The North Londoners, who are currently sixth in the Premier League table, face a resurgent Liverpool side that has the opportunity to move a point ahead of Tottenham, and also have a game in hand. As part of the pre-match protocol, Mason informed the media of the availability of the Spurs squad ahead of the game.
The Tottenham manager started by announcing that goalkeeper Hugo Lloris would not be available for the match due to a muscular issue. Lloris was forced off at half time during Tottenham’s 6-1 defeat against Newcastle United last Sunday and also missed Tuesday’s 2-2 draw against Manchester United at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium. His place in the starting eleven was once again taken by Fraser Forster, who has proven to be an able deputy, making some smart saves to deny United.
Apart from Lloris, other players in the Tottenham squad are being assessed in the lead-up to the game. Mason confirmed that the team would be monitoring their progress on a day-to-day basis to determine their fitness for the match.
Mason said, “The lads haven’t trained yet – they’ve just reported now – and we’re going to see how they’re feeling in terms of training this afternoon and tomorrow leading into the game.”
Tottenham’s clash with Liverpool promises to be an exciting encounter, and both teams will be looking to secure a victory that could have significant implications on their respective league positions. With Lloris out of contention for Sunday’s match, Spurs will have to rely on their other goalkeeping options to keep Liverpool at bay.
