Richarlison has sent a message to “keep strong” on Instagram after Everton lost 3-1 at Crystal Palace on Sunday (12 December).
The Brazilian forward, 24, was surprisingly substituted in the 58th minute at Selhurst Park, with the away side 1-0 down at the time Salomon Rondon replaced him.
Rafa Benitez later told reporters that Richarlison had suffered a knock in the first half.
That didn’t stop the Brazil star from expressing his contempt at his manager’s decision, though, as he made his feelings clear on the sidelines and when sitting in the dugout.
But, posting an image of himself and Anthony Gordon on his personal Instagram profile (12 December) after the Blues lost in South London, Richarlison wrote “stay strong”, pinning the response from Gordon, who reacted with two emojis.
Message to himself or the fans?
It’s unclear exactly who the message is aimed at, but it’s one that all of those associated with Everton will be trying to keep in mind at this current time.
After a run of just one win in their last 10 games, which includes seven defeats, Blues are not feeling the festive fun in December.
Sunday’s result saw Palace leapfrog Everton in the table with the Toffees now 14th in the Premier League and hovering precariously above the relegation places.
It’s been a tricky run of fixtures and it doesn’t get any easier on Thursday (16 December) with another tricky test in London, this time at Chelsea.
Blues will be desperate for Richarlison to shake off any injury he suffered against Palace in order to start at Stamford Bridge this week.
With Dominic Calvert-Lewin still out of the side, Benitez needs all the attacking thrust he can get as he targets a shock result in West London.
