Spurs are in League Cup action tonight and will hope to reach the fourth round of the competition.
Tottenham reached the final last season, only to fall at the final hurdle – can they go a step further this year?
Spurs are certainly in need of a confidence boost – they began the season so well, only to lose form after the international break, writes the TBRFootball.
Two consecutive 3-0 defeats in the Premier League have dealt Tottenham a big blow in confidence.
And Harry Kane, who was heavily linked with a move away, is yet to score in the league this season.
Given the England captain’s lack of form and a huge fixture coming up this weekend – Arsenal away – Nuno Espirito Santo could be tempted to rest him.
If that’s the case, then Dane Scarlett could come in – and Spurs fans would be buzzing if he got the nod.
Scarlett is one of the most highly rated talents at Spurs – last season, the 17-year-old scored 25 goals in just 24 appearances at age level.
He also made his Tottenham senior debut, featuring once in the Premier League and twice in the Europa League.
This term, Scarlett has been in and around the first team, with two Europa Conference League appearances under his belt.
Former Spurs boss Jose Mourinho rated the young striker very highly.
“Tottenham have a striker in Dane Scarlett, who, if everything goes well, is going to be phenomenal,” he told The Times.
Mourinho has also been quoted as saying Scarlett “has incredible talent” and tipped him to break into the first team in 2021-22.
His prediction has proven true – now, can Scarlett go further and deliver a masterclass against Wolves?
Let’s see what Nuno’s team selection will be tonight.
