Report: Tottenham want £20m-rated powerhouse who scored more than Harry Kane last season

Tottenham have entered the race to sign Genk striker Paul Onuachu, according to the Daily Mail.

Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, West Ham and Southampton are also keen on the 6ft 7in talisman.

Tottenham are still scoring the market for an alternative to Harry Kane. Nuno Espirito Santo isn’t blessed with much in reserve behind the England captain.

Onuachu has been scoring for fun in Belgium. During the current campaign, he has scored 11 goals from 15 appearances.

Last season he was a pure machine. He found the net 35 times from 41 games in all competitions.

His blistering form has alerted several of Europe’s top clubs towards his availability; with Tottenham the latest.

Spurs had Carlos Vinicius as a backup to Kane last year. After a disappointing campaign, however, Tottenham opted to send him back to his parent club.

It is thought that Genk want £20 million for their main striker. That fee is unlikely to cause too many problems to many clubs who are vying for his service.

Onuachu is 27 and therefore he can’t really be considered one for the future.

He is, however, approaching his peak and if he’s going to move to a top European league it’s likely to happen soon.

Tottenham may want to get another striker sorted in January to give them the best chance of a strong finish to the season.
