A report from Turkish outlet A Spor say that Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Moussa Sissoko could be about to join Fenerbahce this summer. Sissoko is on the fringes at Tottenham despite surpassing 200 appearances for the Spurs. Now, Fenerbahce could team up Tottenham star Sissoko with Ozil.
Sissoko, 31, is preparing to enter his sixth season at Tottenham – after joining the club from Newcastle in the summer of 2016. The French midfielder has played 202 times for Spurs, but the ex-Toulouse ace only started 15 Premier League games last term. He has a contract until 2023.
Fabio Paratici is overlooking Tottenham’s revolution this summer and has brought in Bryan Gil, Pierluigi Gollini and Cristian Romero. Joe Hart, Erik Lamela, Toby Alderweireld, Gareth Bale and Carlos Vinicius have left. Now, Sissoko could add to that list, with Fener looking to open talks.
The Turkish league is poor. It is far below the Premier League and Sissoko is still more than adept at playing in England’s top league. He does need to leave Tottenham, but he should consider a move to a Premier League club. One that is perhaps looking to break into the top half.
A return to Newcastle would be a much better move for Sissoko. Patrick Vieira’s Crystal Palace are exciting and have done well in the window this summer. Southampton and Tottenham have worked together recently. Surely Sissoko needs to avoid Turkish football for at least a few seasons.
