Report: Tottenham on verge of signing player with ‘loads of talent’, he wants Spurs ahead of four other clubs

Spurs are reportedly edging closer to signing Pape Matar Sarr, according to Sky Sports.

Tottenham have been linked with the talented Metz midfielder in recent days.

And speculation seems to point towards a positive outcome for Spurs.

Fabrizio Romano claimed early on Saturday morning that negotiations had been progressing between Spurs and Metz.

“Total agreement still to be completed in the next days – also potential loan to be decided,” he wrote on Twitter. “Talks on.”

Now, Sky Sports has claimed that Sarr is expected to sign a six-year contract at Tottenham.

Metz president Bernard Serin reportedly flew into London on Monday to have an initial meeting with Daniel Levy.

The two reportedly agreed a deal in principle for Sarr there and then.

In addition, five clubs apparently put offers in front of both Metz and the player.

And Tottenham are said to be Sarr’s preferred option.

The 18-year-old will stay on loan at Metz to continue his development after joining Spurs, added the report.

Sarr, a box-to-box midfielder, has been with Metz for less than a year, but has made waves at the French club.

He joined last September from Senegal-based Generation Foot, penning a five-year deal.

Sarr began in Metz’s reserve team but finished the season with 25 first-team appearances and four goals.

In addition, the teenager has already won two caps for Senegal.

PSG and Senegal midfielder Idrissa Gueye is a big fan of Sarr.

“He’s my type of player, I admire him a lot, loads of talent,” Get French Football News quotes him as saying.

“He’s the future of Senegal.”

Could Sarr be the future of the Spurs midfield as well?

Based on the current speculation, a deal seems close.
