Report: Tottenham join Newcastle, Klopp and Guardiola in race for £200k-a-week freebie

Football site 90Min claim Tottenham are among a long list of suitors looking to sign Ousmane Dembele on a free transfer from Barcelona next summer.

Dembele, 24, is out of contract at the end of the season. Clubs will be able to get him on a pre-contract from January 1, under the Bosman ruling.

While it means interested parties would have to wait to actually get Dembele until the summer, it does mean he would not cost a single penny.

Barcelona want to extend Dembele’s contract – but he wants a pay rise on a contract worth £200,000 a week. Financial issues make a move unlikely.

90Min say that the Premier League is emerging as a possible move for Dembele. That is, despite interest from PSG, Dortmund and Bayern Munich.

In England, Tottenham are listed among suitors that also include Liverpool, Manchester City and Newcastle United. The latter are supposedly in talks.

Foot Mercato reported last week that Newcastle were in talks to sign Dembele, and are willing to pay the World Cup winner £244,000 a week.

Liverpool need cover when AFCON comes around, but when all are available – Dembele does not start. He is paid too much for the bench.

At Manchester City, again, he might not get into the side above the likes of Phil Foden, Raheem Sterling, Riyad Mahrez and Jack Grealish.

Newcastle are about to embark on a new project but they are struggling at the bottom of the Premier League. Does he want to be the face of that?

Or does he want to go to a side that have brilliant facilities, where he will start alongside Harry Kane and Son? Spurs might be his best bet.
