Spurs and Aston Villa are both preparing to make fresh offers for Weston McKennie having wanted the Juventus midfielder for some time, according to a report from Calciomercato.
McKennie’s future looks increasingly likely to take him away from Turin. As noted by the Guardian, he breached protocols while away on international duty.
That report noted that he missed a Juventus game earlier this year in similar circumstances. And it now seems that he could be offered the chance to move to the Premier League.
Calciomercato suggests that the Old Lady would be prepared to sell McKennie for around £25.8 million.
And it is claimed that both Villa and Spurs are set to make fresh moves with the 23-year-old set to leave Juventus in January.
McKennie is clearly a huge talent. He is capable of playing in a variety of midfield roles. And he was extremely successful during his first year with Juve.
However, the alarm bells may be ringing for some. McKennie has got himself into bother on a couple of occasions now.
So a move could be deemed a gamble for either Villa or Spurs.
If he can shine, he could prove a steal at less than £26 million. He only turned 23 late last month. So he has a lot of room for further development.
And as it sounds as though Juventus are now quite willing to let him go, perhaps both Tottenham and the Villans will fancy their chances of pulling off an incredibly shrewd piece of business.
