Tottenham midfielder, Tanguy Ndombele, has told his manager, Nuno Santo, that he is willing to stay and fight for his place at the club.
Ndombele came close to leaving in the summer after requesting a move away from the club. It came after he was frozen out somewhat by Santo, with the midfielder yet to play a part this term.
However, things could be about to turn around. And after being included in Spurs’ European squad, The Evening Standard reports that Ndombele has held clear the air talks with Santo.
They claim that the Frenchman has told the Spurs manager he intends to fight it out for a place in the Spurs midfield. Indeed, Ndombele could even be included in the squad which travels to Selhurst Park today.
It is suggested that Santo could resist the temptation to put Ndombele straight back in. This, despite a lack of midfielders in the ranks at the moment.
However, it is a turning point for both the player and club. And after impressing at times last term, Ndombele could prove vital over the course of the season.
While a few managers have struggled to get a full tune out of Ndombele now, we all know there is a quality player in there.
And if Santo can somehow unlock that potential, then that will only benefit both the club and the player this season. Ndombele needs games, and Spurs want a return on the big investment they made in him.
This is a surprising but welcome bit of news for Tottenham. And one which could help them to a successful season.
