New Tottenham Hotspur boss Nuno Espirito Santo asked every single player in his squad ‘Do you want to be at Spurs?’ during a team meeting, according to The Sun.
Tottenham’s players are said to have been impressed by Nuno’s coaching skills at Hotspur Way.
However, his personality has apparently meant that not every Spurs player has warmed to him.
That is unlikely to be an issue, given that Tottenham have started the season with two wins, but it may just suggest that the comparisons with Mauricio Pochettino aren’t entirely accurate.
Pochettino was very popular among Spurs’ players, but Nuno reportedly still has some work to do to win the squad around.
His latest move was to ask a question of every Tottenham’s players commitment in a team meeting, the report suggests.
Apparently almost every Spurs player responded positively, with only a couple of exceptions.
The Sun does not name the players who said they weren’t particularly happy to stay, but speculation has surrounded a number of Tottenham’s players futures this summer.
The likes of Harry Kane, Tanguy Ndombele and Serge Aurier are all being linked with moves away, even in the final week of the window.
On the pitch, Tottenham’s players certainly have looked committed this season.
Spurs have pressed more intently under Nuno than they ever did with Jose Mourinho, and already their fitness levels seem to have improved, which has led to them making an encouraging start to the campaign.
