Spurs are now in talks with Fiorentina over a deal to bring Nikola Milenkovic to the club, after a move to West Ham broke down.
That’s according to Sky Sports, who claim that Milenkovic is now firmly on Fabio Paratici’s radar, and the Italian could push a deal through quickly following the Hammers’ failure.
Milenkovic is available at a knockdown price thanks to his contract being due to expire at the end of the season. Rated at around £22m, the 23-year-old is already vastly experienced, despite his tender years.
The Serbian international is widely viewed as one of the top defenders on the market in Europe this summer. West Ham had hoped to get an agreement over the line, but Spurs now hold the aces.
Milenkovic could well arrive instead of Japanese star, Takehiro Tomiyasu.
Spurs have been pushing hard for a deal for the Bologna man all summer but have, as yet, failed to come to terms.
Milenkovic, then, is the ideal alternative. He has been on the radar of English clubs for some time, and was even mentioned as a potential signing when Jose Mourinho was in charge.
