Spurs have opened talks with Sevilla about a deal to send Davinson Sanchez to Spain, with the club open to selling the Colombian star.
The Express reports, citing talk from Spain, that talks have begun when it comes to Sanchez and a move to Sevilla.
It is believed talks have started and it will be a deal on its own, with Jules Kounde and Bryan Gil not thought to be part of any deal for Sanchez.
The defender was signed for £42m by Mauricio Pochettino and has done well at times for Tottenham. However, he’s drifted down the pecking order and struggled to impress former boss, Jose Mourinho.
Sanchez is now on a list of players Fabio Paratici is trying to sell this summer. The likes of Harry Winks, Erik Lamela, and Serge Aurier are all on that same list.
Spurs are believed to want cash for Sanchez, per The Express. They’ll then use that money to help fund their move for Cristian Romero.
It feels like the right time for Sanchez and Spurs to part ways. It’s a shame, too. The Colombian is clearly a big talent, but he struggled under Mourinho and seems low on confidence.
Spurs, then, will hope to get some of their £42m outlay back at least. However, they’ll also know they face making a hefty loss as well.
Spain and Seville is probably a good move for Sanchez. He’ll get back to playing regularly and the slower pace of Spanish football might suit him.
With Paratici working to overhaul the squad, it’s little surprise to see Sanchez being one of the players moved on.
