Spurs could yet allow talented young midfielder Oliver Skipp move out on loan this summer, according to a report from The Athletic.
Skipp was expected to be in and around the Spurs squad for the coming season. It comes off the back of an impressive year with Norwich City last term.
However, The Athletic reports that while Skipp is rated highly at the club, a loan move could still happen. This, due to the fact that Nuno Santo is still assessing his options and Fabio Paratici is still working on new signings.
Skipp would have no problem in finding a club. The report claims that teams are lining up – both at home and abroad – to take Skipp off their hands.
Things have picked up at the club in recent weeks. A number of players are said to be available for transfer. Further, players have started to arrive, including Bryan Gil and Pierluigi Gollini. More, of course, are expected.
Skipp had previously impressed Jose Mourinho at the club. The Portuguese manager labelled the midfielder ‘phenomenal’ after a performance in the League Cup against Colchester.
The decision on Skipp is a crucial one for both the club and the player you feel. Skipp needs to play, so if Santo isn’t going to use him, then he needs to play elsewhere.
Skipp will be a player for Spurs. There’s few who doubt that. But he needs to get this next move right and it’s vital Spurs help him out.
It would be a huge shame to see such a talent waste a year.
