Lautaro Martinez is said to like the idea of joining Tottenham Hotspur by Sky Italia.
The report claims that the striker ‘especially’ likes Tottenham’s offer, alongside Atletico Madrid.
However, they play down the chances of him actually leaving Inter Milan.
With the Italian side already having sold Romelu Lukaku, their need for sales has been reduced.
And Tottenham may now face missing out on Martinez, with Inter looking to tie him down on a new deal.
Tottenham had agreed to buy the striker, but that was before Chelsea stepped up their interest in Lukaku.
The deal may well now not be possible, with Sky Italia reporting that contract discussions between Martinez and Inter are well under way.
There is at least some hope for Tottenham fans offered though in the sense that Martinez is said to be keen on the move.
If Martinez was to join Tottenham it certainly would be an indication of their ambition.
The Argentine striker has been a prolific scorer in recent years, which has led to Fernando Morientes calling him ‘one of the best forwards in the world’ (Mundo Deportivo).
And if Tottenham could pair him with Harry Kane then they would have one of the most dangerous strike-pairings in football.
