Tottenham target and Antonio Conte favourite, Marcelo Brozovic, is set to sit down with Inter Milan and discuss a new contract with the Italian side.
According to reports in recent weeks, new Spurs boss Conte is keen on bringing Brozovic to the club. However, it’s been suggested the Croatian is demanding around £7.5m-a-year.
It was initially suggested that Inter would not be interested in bowing to those demands. However, Tuttomercatoweb now claims that Brozovic and Inter are set to a fresh round of talks to try and secure a deal.
It’s claimed Inter want to have something sorted – either way – with Brozovic. That could mean them coming to an agreement on a new contract, or in the worst case, knowing the midfielder is off and allowing the club to plan properly.
Brozovic, 28, has won 69 caps for Croatia. Since being at Inter, he’s developed into one of the key players for the Nerazzurri. Indeed, he helped Conte’s Inter to the Scudetto last season.
Tottenham, meanwhile, are expected to be busy in January. Daniel Levy has brought Conte in on big money, so new signings and backing is expected.
If Inter are serious about keeping Brozovic, which it seems they are, then it might not even be worth Spurs even making a move in the first place.
Inter obviously value their man. At the moment, it seems an impasse has been reached in terms of wages. However, this happens a lot in football and things can change quickly.
If Brozovic does show an indication of wanting to try somewhere else, then you’d imagine Conte and Tottenham will be right there waiting.
