Rafa Benitez has praised Everton’s “brave” performance in their 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday.
The Blues found themselves behind at the interval thanks to a strike late in the first half from Anthony Martial.
However the visitors rallied after the break with a fantastic counter-attack allowing Andros Townsend to bag his fifth goal for the club to equalise.
Following the match, Benitez believes that his side could even have come away with all three points thanks to their display.
The Everton manager remarked: “I think it [the performance] was brave.
“We have some players who aren’t playing with us, the other players are playing too many minutes and you could see some of them were a little tired at the end.
“I think, overall, it was a great performance. We did really well in defence, in the counter-attack which was what we wanted.
“It’s a pity because we can be happy with one point, but it could be even better.”
Everton might have claimed all three points late in the game, but Yerry Mina’s goal was chalked off for offside as he was beyond the last man when played in by Tom Davies.
Many believed the midfielder should have taken a shot at goal himself rather than pass the ball, but Benitez has explained why he shouldn’t be blamed for his decision.
The boss said: “In terms of the chance for Davies, I think he saw the position of Yerry and thought it was much better than his position. That’s it.
