Kevin Campbell has urged Everton to spend significant money in the final weeks of the January transfer window.
The ex-Toffees talisman has insisted that Rafa Benitez needs to sign a new central defender who can lead the club forward.
Despite criticism from many this season, Michael Keane has been backed with a partner said to be needed alongside him.
“Come on,” he exclusively told Goodison News.
“I look at centre-halves and I’m still not convinced. I’ve seen Keane have really good games and I’ve seen him not do too well, I think he needs a partner, Holgate is there at times.
“I just think they need somebody, they need a leader there, I don’t see a leader. The quicker they can get a leader in there, the better.
“Maybe, they might have to go spend some money, but I think they need somebody of significance back there.”
This all depends on the sale of Lucas Digne.
After spending £30million on Vitaliy Mykolenko and Nathan Patterson, the club may need to balance its finances before entering the market again.
Financial Fair Play rules have been tight for over a year now, and Benitez will be praying for more breathing room in the next three weeks.
It’s time to open that chequebook again.
