Some Spurs fans have reacted to Fabrizio Romano’s update regarding Tottenham‘s alleged “plan B” in case they don’t land Cristian Romero.
Spurs are reportedly eager to sign Romero, last season’s Serie A defender of the year.
Indeed, Romano claims the Atalanta and Argentina ace is “100 percent” Fabio Paratici’s priority signing.
However, the Italian journalist says there’s no agreement yet on a 55m euro (£47m) fee.
Following on from this, Romano claims Tottenham have a plan B in place.
This would consist of Takehiro Tomiyasu, Nikola Milenkovic and Kurt Zouma.
All three defenders would cost the same as Romero, according to Romano.
Now, it’s worth remembering Paratici is a hard-working operator who’s known for speaking to multiple transfer targets at once.
And every businessperson worth their salt needs to have contingency plans in place, in case plan A doesn’t work out.
But some Tottenham supporters are nonetheless alarmed that plan B is now cropping up in transfer speculation talk.
Here’s what some Spurs fans have been saying on Twitter:
Alasdair Gold has predicted that Romero could transform the Tottenham backline right away were he to join.
“Cristian Romero is a superb player,” the football.london correspondent said on the Tottenham Talk Live Transfer Q&A last week.
“If Spurs can pull that one off I think they’d transform their defence with one player.
“As I understand it… Romero is the one (centre-back) he (Paratici) would like the most.
“So hopefully it will happen because it would be transformative.”
