Phil Thompson has said on the Where’s Jeff podcast that Harry Kane still doesn’t look fully fit for Tottenham Hotspur.
Kane missed the bulk of pre-season with Spurs, as he seemingly pushed for a move to Manchester City.
That transfer obviously never materialised, with Kane now being reintroduced to the Tottenham team.
Kane came on as a sub for Spurs against Wolves and then started against Watford in their last outing before the international break.
The England captain also featured for Spurs in the Europa Conference League, where he scored a brace against Pacos de Ferreira.
But Thompson has seen signs of rustiness in Kane, and he doesn’t feel that Tottenham will be able to keep up their winning start.
“I think Spurs with Nuno, it was very structured and he likes to stick to it,” he said.
“His side, they all knew what they were doing.
“They have players to break and create and the early results are helping everybody.
“Harry Kane, I still don’t think he’s fully fit, even though he’s starting to score the game.
“But you know that they are Spurs and they will have that collapse sooner rather than later.”
Kane may not quite be at full sharpness yet, but he still looked a major threat for England over the past few days.
Kane netted three goals in three games for the Three Lions to edge closer to become his nation’s greatest ever goalscorer.
Tottenham will certainly be hoping that he can carry his form back into the club campaign.
Spurs may have picked up maximum points from their first three games, but they have only scored three goals over that time.
If they are to sustain their early season success then they are likely to have to become more of a threat in the attacking third, but Kane’s availability should help them in that regard.
Tottenham are next in action at the weekend, when they take on Crystal Palace.
