‘Owner of the left wing’ – Inter’s player who reportedly wants Spurs move deemed ‘one of the best in Europe’

Tottenham Hotspur director Fabio Paratici is known to like a free transfer, writes the TBR.

And this summer, a host of top players will likely be out of contract.

One of those is Ivan Perisic, a player Spurs are reportedly eyeing.

In January, The Mirror claimed Tottenham were monitoring the Inter Milan winger.

Inter Live reported in December that Perisic’s first preference when his deal expires in the summer is to join Antonio Conte at Tottenham.

It was claimed that the two would ’embrace’ a reunion and the fact that he’d be a free agent makes him a really attractive option.

Sport1 also revealed two months ago that Tottenham and Perisic had entered talks over a potential deal.

More recently, football.london‘s Alasdair Gold suggested Perisic could catch Spurs’ eye in summer.

The Nerazzurri ace turned 33 this month, but he’s still playing at a high level and has plenty to offer Tottenham.

On Wednesday, Perisic was one of Inter’s best players in the Champions League meeting with Liverpool.

The Croatian had numerous chances to open the scoring against the Reds and to equalise after their opener.

Italy’s media outlets lauded Perisic after the match, despite Inter’s 2-0 loss.

Tuttomercatoweb gave him 7/10 and wrote: “When he plays like he did in the second half, he gives the feeling of being one of the best in Europe in that role.

“Continuous challenges, quality crosses, accurate passes and defensive contributions. Too bad they didn’t help him out up front.”

Corriere della Sera wrote that Perisic was “in a different league”, while Eurosport called him “exceptional” and the “owner of the left wing”.

So, we have a player who’s experienced, world-class, impressed against one of England’s best teams, knows Conte well, seems keen to join Spurs, and won’t cost a penny in transfer fees.
