‘On his way to complete revival’ – Spurs fans share excitement over Romano’s behind-the-scenes claim

Fabrizio Romano claims Harry Winks is loving life at Tottenham Hotspur under Antonio Conte – and Spurs fans have responded on Twitter, writes the TBR.

Winks, 25, started and finished Sunday’s 2-1 win over Leeds United in what was only his second start in the Premier League this season.

The England international has dropped out of the side since the signing of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. Oliver Skipp has overtaken him in the pecking order.

It will be interesting to see, going forward, whether Skipp will start over Winks. It might be that Winks plays against Mura on Thursday evening.

Romano has shared what he has heard behind the scenes regarding Winks and Conte – stating the midfielder is very happy with life under the Italian.

“Winks is now loving his Tottenham life with Antonio Conte I’m told. Others are super excited with Conte,” Romano told The Here We Go Podcast.

Winks has been linked with the exit door on numerous occasions. The likes of Aston Villa, Everton, Tottenham, Inter Milan and Roma are options.

But with Spurs lacking in options in the middle of the park, Winks remains an important part of the squad. Skipp’s absence on Sunday proved that.

He was solid against Leeds. Winks kept the ball, progressed the midfield into attack at times and worked hard against a busy Leeds side.

Many think that Winks might actually be perfect for Conte’s midfield – given the Italian likes to play a 3-4-3 with two in the middle, instead of three.

To play that system, they need to be defensive-minded and hard-working. Winks is that, and Spurs fans are excited by Romano’s claim on Twitter.
