Milan striker Olivier Giroud revealed that he could have moved from Chelsea to Inter Milan two years ago and was ready to play even for Tottenham.
He told the press that he was not getting regular playing time at Chelsea at the time, as a third striker in the pecking order. So he was trying to find a solution with Frank Lampard.
“I couldn’t stay in that situation. I wanted to leave but Lampard told me he needed a replacement.”
“He promised that I would have more chances and gave me that opportunity. And I scored eight goals in the last ten matches of the season, thank God we qualified for the Champions League.
“At the time, Italian clubs were very interested. I could go to Inter, there were negotiations, but at some point, representatives of Inter said that they no longer had money to sign me. I did everything to leave, I even met the Lazio sporting director.”
“I wanted to leave so desperately that I even told Frank Lampard that I would even go to Tottenham because I knew Jose Mourinho wanted to see me.”
“But it would be difficult because I still played for Arsenal. Fate wanted me to be here in a Rossoneri shirt.”
