Spurs manager Nuno Santo says he hopes to have Cristian Romero back soon, after the defender missed out on today’s win at Wolves.
Romero was a noticeable omission from the Tottenham squad as they saw off Wolves thanks to a single goal from Dele Alli at Molineux. The game wasn’t anything to shout home about, but Spurs took another three points.
They also saw Harry Kane return to the pitch, and it will now be a big few weeks ahead for both Kane and the club in the ongoing saga surrounding Manchester City’s interest.
But in terms of matters within the squad beyond Kane, Santo confirmed after the game that he hopes to have Romero back soon. The Tottenham boss admitting his new defender miss the game through injury.
“Yeah, hopefully,” Santo told Football.London when asked if Romero was ok.
“When he finished the game in Pacos he was ok but yesterday in the training session he didn’t feel totally comfortable, so we decided not to bring him. He’s getting treatment now and I think he’s going to be better soon.”
Romero will be hoping to get his Spurs career off and running properly soon after the mild horror show in midweek.
The other defenders in this squad are really making it hard for Santo to put Romero straight back in. But this is a good thing for Spurs, who now look like they have proper options at the back.
It’s good news that Romero isn’t seriously injured. However, he could have to be patient, with Spurs off to the perfect start this season already.
