Reports have linked spurs with a move for Maurizio Sarri as they search for a replacement for Jose Mourinho.
The former Chelsea boss has been unattached since Juventus fired him at the end of last season.
He was the Chelsea manager in the 2018/2019 season and helped the Blues to win the Europa League in 2019.
Before coming to England, he managed Napoli in Italy and his Naples team played excellent attacking football.
He won Serie A with Juventus in his only season at the helm and also helped them to reach the final of the Italian Cup.
However, Sarri is a fiery figure who seems to fall out with the presidents of the teams that he manages and its players quite often.
Former Leeds striker, Noel Whelan insists that he would be the wrong man for the Tottenham job and he would have problems with their players if Spurs make him their next boss.
“No, I don’t think that’s the right appointment,” Whelan told Football Insider.
“I really don’t. No. That’s not the way Tottenham need to go.
“He’s another personality who would clash with the players. You need to look at the man-management side of things now.
“He’s got the experience but you need more than that to go to Tottenham. You need someone who will put their arm around the players.
“Someone like [Mauricio] Pochettino. He was stern when he needed to be but he also had that personality, that’s what you need.”
