According to reliable journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Tottenham Hotspur will have a meeting with Real Madrid over the possibility of signing Gareth Bale once a new manager is appointed, writes ToTheLaneAndBack.
Bale returned to Tottenham last summer on a season-long loan deal, seven years after leaving for Real Madrid. And while he did struggle in the early parts of the season, the 31-year-old really picked up form towards the back end of the campaign.
His display on the final day of the 2020/21 campaign against Leicester City, when he came off the bench to score a match-winning brace, was stunning. In the end, Bale finished the season with an impressive return of 16 goals and 3 assists from 34 games across all competitions. (h/t Transfermarkt)
With his loan spell done, Bale will be back at Real Madrid ahead of the next season, where he does not have a future. As a result, there had been strong speculations that the Welsh international could end up hanging his boots soon after the UEFA Euro 2020 later this year. (h/t Daily Mail)
Fabrizio Romano, however, has dismissed those claims as fake. The Italian reporter even added that Bale is still waiting to take a decision on his future.
And as for his chances of making a return to Tottenham, Romano added that the club will meet with Real Madrid once a new manager has been appointed. Spurs are currently without a full-time manager following the sacking of Jose Mourinho last month.
