The 23-year-old central defender has just joined Spurs this season on loan from Atalanta with a buyout option of £42.5million. The youngster would be hoping to make a mark with the North London club as soon as possible.

Romero has just joined England’s top-flight league this season and make take some time to adjust to the intensity and physicality of the game played in the Premier League. The Argentine defender still has a long way to go in his footballing career but these comments are great signs of encouragement for the player as well as the club.

His national team coach has praised his humility and desire to get better with every game:

“He is one of the best in the world in his position. He does not believe it, he always transmits the desire to be here, and that is seen on the field. He has to continue improving, he is very young, at some point he will have difficulties and we will have to be there to support him.”

The Lilywhites would be looking for a sturdy and consistent defensive partner at the back to support Eric Dier. Spurs have had a turbulent start to the Premier League campaign with the side already facing 3 defeats in 7 PL games this season. Nuno Espirito Santo is still in the nascent stages of his managerial career with Tottenham Hotspur and could well take more time to figure out the perfect system and group of players that work for him.

Fellow Argentine player Giovani Lo Celso will also be looking to make a lasting impact under Nuno’s reign. The Portuguese manager would be happy as both Romero and Lo Celso will not have to isolate due to the dramatic reduction in the red list countries.

This Spurs side will be looking to build a squad for the future that can compete at a high level consistently. If the younger players can be developed and nurtured in a proper manner the club could earn domestic and European accolades.
