‘More sloppy play at times…’ – Alasdair Gold slams shocking Spurs flop who made zero tackles against Wolves

Tottenham Hotspur have certainly had one of their worst weeks under Antonio Conte. They followed up a 3-2 loss in midweek with a crippling 2-0 defeat against Wolves, informs the TIF.

Goals from Raul Jimenez and Leander Dendoncker in the opening 18 minutes settled the tie, with Spurs answerless to the early onslaught by the visitors at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. While it is easy to pick out players after a 2-0 defeat, Davinson Sanchez has been singled out as one of the worst performers.

To begin with, he was the lowest rated player for Spurs outside of Ryan Sessegnon on SofaScore, registering just 6.7, the lowest for any of the back three – he made zero tackles on the day, was dribbled past one, and made one error that directly led to a shot.

He was also slammed by Spurs reporter Alasdair Gold in his match ratings. He got just four out of ten, with Gold going on to justify his reasoning by saying: “More sloppy play at times from the Colombian and Joe Rodon must be wondering how poor the Tottenham defence has to be for him to get any minutes as the man Conte said was Eric Dier’s back-up.”

It was a shocking day all round for Spurs who drop to eighth in the table, being leapfrogged by a Wolves side that triumphed over them today.

They are still five points off the top four with three games in hand, so theoretically top four looks to be in their hands still. The problem is they’re behind Arsenal and level on games so are reliant on their North London rivals slipping up if they want to make the Champions League next season.
