Everton announced on Thursday the signing of 22-year-old Dwight McNeil for £20 million. West Ham and Tottenham were also interested in the player.
The signing of the young Englishman left everyone rather skeptical, as McNeil failed to score in 40 games for Burnley last season.
The debut match against Dynamo Kyiv showed that the 22-year-old player was signed by the Liverpool club for a reason. The player made the double, resulting in Everton’s 3-0 win over the Ukrainian champions.
The first goal immediately silenced the critics. Excellent dribbling and long-range shot allowed the player to score a goal. Then, the 22-year-old Englishman demonstrated his ability to play with his head, skipping between Kyiv club defenders and sending the ball into the net.
The signing of ex-Burnley winger was assessed by everyone skeptically, but the player proves the opposite.
